Call it a Western Highway Woodstock. 22 acts will perform across two stages when the Rockland Bergen Music Festival returns to Tappan's German Masonic Park June 25 and 26. But for festival founder and organizer Joe D'Urso, the event is about much more than just music.
Orangetown Daily Voice - June 10, 2016
Even though he lived in Tappan growing up, the end of Joe D'Urso's street was in New Jersey. The opposite is now true 50 years later. Yet for as long as D'Urso has straddled the Rockland-Bergen border there has been a dearth of live music venues, he said over the phone. So, drawing on his love of Jersey Rock, folk music, and 25 years worth of friends and contacts in the music industry, D'Urso launched the Rockland-Bergen Music Festival in 2014. The festival returns for its third year the weekend of June 25-26 at the German Masonic Park in Tappan.

"As we head into our third year of the Rockland-Bergen Music Festival, we keep fine- tuning what we have been told is a very laid back and enjoyable experience. The unique German Masonic Park lends itself to the stripped down feeling of the whole weekend. This is a professional production while at the same time feeling like an extended family BBQ with lots of great musicians, some who happen to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Grammy award winners," says D'Urso.

Joe D'Urso presents Rockland-Bergen Music Festival (RBM) celebrated its second year on June 27 and June 28, 2015. The Festival was held at the family friendly German Masonic Park located at 120 Western Highway, Tappan, New York. Founder/musician Joe D'Urso gave birth to the RBM Festival as a one-day affair in 2014 to celebrate his 50th birthday. This year it grew and expanded into a two-day rain or shine event.

It was only right that Joe D'Urso and his band enjoyed one of the rare glimpses of sunshine during last weekend's Rockland-Bergen Music Festival. Rockland County-born rocker Joe D'Urso sure knows how to throw a party. Last year, D'Urso booked the German Masonic Park in Tappan, where he was born, and got a bunch of musical friends to play for his 50th birthday. He called it the Rockland-Bergen Music Festival and invited the public to celebrate with him. About 1,000 people joined him on a beautiful June Sunday. This year, he's planning an even bigger bash - doubling the length and, he hopes, the attendance - for this Saturday and Sunday. "If you set up a stage for one day, you might as well leave it there for two days," he rationalizes.

And I just always thought that this area was kind of underserved when it came to music festivals."
